Creator TakeOff Academy

Contract Checker 101

Read the whole thing yourself first

There is no way around this one. Use this tool after you've read the contract, as a second pair of eyes. Never instead of reading it. Signing something you haven't agreed to has consequences no scanner will catch for you.

And take your time. A brand sending you a contract does not mean you reply the same day. One to two days is normal. The reading itself takes ten to twelve minutes.

Open your confirmation email alongside it. Almost every point worth negotiating is not a scary clause, it is a gap between what you agreed and what they wrote. No scanner can spot that for you, because only you know what was agreed.

Your contract never leaves your device. The file is read inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored or sent anywhere. You can turn off your wifi once this page has loaded and it still works.

Six things only you can check

A scanner reads words. It can't know what you agreed on a call. Work through these yourself before you sign.

What this tool is. It searches your contract for the language that most often costs creators money, using the checklist taught in the Academy. It's a prompt to ask better questions, not a legal review. It can miss things, and it can flag something that is perfectly reasonable in context.

It is not legal advice, and nobody here is a lawyer. For anything high value, or anything you don't understand, pay a lawyer to read it. That fee is smaller than the deal you'll lose by signing badly.
